Finally...Our Trip to Washington D.C.

I have tried 3 times to get these pictures on our Blog and I keep getting interrupted before I finish...so here it is for real this time! In June we had an awesome opportunity to go to Washington D.C. to visit Cam, Sarah and Lucy for a week! We had a blast and we appreciated Cam and Sarah for letting us stay with them. It really was an amazing trip. It was our first trip Jared and I took just ourselves since our Honeymoon. We had a blast. Here are a series of pictures!

Arlington Cemetery. Our first stop!
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. We were able to see the change of the guard while we were there. It was really neat. They have someone guarding this tomb 24/7!
Here we are in the capitol building in the spot that is right in the middle of Washington D.C.
This was a cool shot of the capitol from inside, we were able to take a tour of the capitol building. It was really neat, and it was really fun to learn about all the history behind it.
Here we are in front of the capitol building.
Here is Jared at the WWII Monument. He served his mission in South Dakota so we had to take a picture!
Here we are in front of the Washington Monument. This was one our favorite stops. We were able to go to the top and see the amazing view.
Lincoln Monument
This was another fun day, we drove up to a beach in Delaware! It was worth the drive we had a great time playing in the sand and the waves! We even had a fun picnic! Thanks for taking us Cam and Sarah!

Cute Lucy playing in the waves! She is such a funny girl! We loved every minute with her!
Cam and Lucy love to play Scrabble together. Lucy decides what she want to spell and they sound the word out together and find the letters to make the words. She is so smart!
We celebrated Lucy's 3rd Birthday a few days early, with yummy cupcakes! We had so much fun with that girl...she was always making us laugh.
We gave Lucy a princess backpack for her birthday to carry her pink computer in. We had so much fun celebrating with her!
This is Jared's first subway ride!
On our last day in Washington D.C. we rented a paddle boat and rowed around the tidal basin. While we were out we saw the president fly above in his helicopter. See the picture below.
Thank you so much Cam, Sarah and Lucy! We had the best time with you guys!!

September 11, 2011

Today has been a day of reflection for many of us. I thought this picture was appropriate for today. We took a picture of one of the beams from one of the World Trade Center buildings, in the American History Museum in Washington D.C.. When we saw this beam we were reminded of the great freedom that we have living in this country and how easily it was threatened to be taken away from us. I remember on the day of September 11, 2001 I was curling my hair for school when my mom called from the other room in utter shock at what she had seen on the news. I don't think at that point I really realized what had happened and the impact it would have on our country and the lives of so many people. I remember going to school that day and feeling a great sense of unity with everyone in the country. Suddenly it was as if we recognized how something so wonderful we called Freedom had been threatened. I remember feeling a sense of pride to be and American and that all Americans were united together in protecting our Freedom. As we approached the 10th anniversary I feel that we as a country haver slipped back into some complacency regarding what has been fought for so many times. We needed to step up and remember what a blessing freedom really is.

A Taste of "Busy Season"

We found out we were expecting right in the middle of Jared's internship with Deloitte. It was a bit of a shock to us but we are super excited. Jared really enjoyed his experience with Deloitte and he learned a lot. He was really busy from January to April but it was good to see what "Busy Season" is really like. He had to go to a client out in Vernal Monday-Friday and then he would come home for the weekend and go again he did that for four weeks! It was a long few weeks but we got through it. We are both grateful we got a real taste of what lies ahead for us. Jared will start with Deloitte in September 2012 after he finishes his masters in the Spring!
Here is Jared going to a recruiting event for Deloitte. You can tell he loves his picture being taken. I think he grateful we are having a baby so all my pictures won't have to be of him!

An Update is needed and an Update is here!

We are excited to welcome an addition to our family of two!
It's a Boy!! Coming October 18th!

Here is Jared right after we found out!
You could say he's pretty excited and maybe a little in shock!

I Remembered our E-mail Address!

Okay now some of you that actually look at this blog might have noticed that it has been 5 months since we have updated! I do have an explanation for this but I will have to be honest and say that it's pretty lame. I couldn't remember our e-mail address that we have linked to this blog and then it finally just came to me today! Hooray! So now I can update our blog a little more often. New updates coming soon! Now that we can actually sign in!

WE MADE IT!!

Jared made it through the busiest semester of college! I'll be honest I was wondering if it would ever come to an end! Jared did so well this semester he has worked really hard and the hard work has paid off! Now we have a few days to relax before I go back to teaching and he goes back to school! Oh love we have for school! Jared threatens from time to time that he is going to get his PhD.! I have no comment about this. :0 I'm just grateful we are done with this semester! Although we have had a really busy semester we have had a lot of fun. I think I left my camera cord at school so I haven't been able to post any pictures but I will. Jared and I ran the Deseret News 10k on the 24th of July. Jared ran ahead and my sister-in-law Sarah M. ran the whole way with me my brother Darren ran it too and we were able to run the first half with him, but unfortunately he ran ahead and finished before we did! Sarah was great she kept my mind off the running and we had fun chatting the whole race. (Needless to say it was much of a run for her, more like a jog) but we had a lot of fun anyway and she helped me make my goal time! Exactly one hour! Thanks Sarah!

An Update!

We have finally moved! We lived in our one bedroom for quite some time and finally decided we needed a change and a bit bigger place. We found a great 2 bedroom basement apartment and moved in in the middle of May! We have loved the change our new apartment feels a bit more like a little home and we even have a dish washer and a washer and dryer! We are so excited about this new change but we are sad to be leaving our ward. Jared and I have loved working in the Young Men and Young Women. The youth never cease to amaze us! As far as the rest of our summer goes I complete my 2nd year of teaching and had a wonderful year. I have loved working with our new Early Childhood Special Ed director. She has been so supportive and helpful and this year was a complete 180 from my first year. I'm grateful for the summer break but I'm excited for another year! Jared is taking a full load this summer to get more of the pre-reqs for the accounting program. He is so driven I just wish I had even half of the drive he has. He has been studying like crazy! I've been impressed by how well he balances it all. We still have had plenty of time to hang out together. Just this last Wednesday was the 4 year mark of our engagement, but since I left for girls camp the same day we didn't celebrate until Saturday when I got home. We went to dinner at IN-N-OUT and then took a drive up to South Mountain Golf Course where he proposed. I of course was a pansy and didn't want to get out of the car because I didn't want to get cold and the golf course wasn't closed yet. Needless to say Jared was nice and we just stayed in the car. I wish we had taken a picture but we forgot the camera! I promised myself I would be cheesy on this blog but I'm grateful for Jared, it's been an amazing 4 plus years! We have learned so much together and all I can is...I am blessed!
